"slow living" indeed ironic

I love the chaos and infectious energy of a big city that has a lot going on. I prefer to be out on foot but even if stuck in traffic a vibrant city can feel exciting. I live near San Francisco which is very walkable but I'm thinking of New York. There is energy in the streets and that's what makes a city interesting. I'm enjoying your topics Lloyd.

This is a bit like saying getting fat is a sign that you're living well. You might not be starving, but it's just a different type of unhealthy.

While Toronto might be economically vibrant, hence traffic, it's not holistically healthy. Traffic is a sign of that too.

Very interesting that traffic is a good thing and a sign of jobs and a prosperous economy. Great take on a daily nuisance.

I think one very American thing that contributes to traffic is the size of cities and zoning between commercial and residential buildings. Most US cities are still very suburban, which keeps houses many miles from stores and office buildings. For me and everyone I work with, biking would never be an option as it's 10+ miles through very busy and dangerous roads.
