No he did not threaten me, but his supporters threatened other journalists who covered this subject, threatening one to a duel. Since I live so close, and since my address was so accessible, I decided that it wasn't worth the risk.
I read it before you unpublished Lloyd - seemed very reasonable to me too. We had a conservative MP in Westminster yesterday demand a debate on the 'international socialist concept' of 15 minute cities - honestly, the world's gone bonkers. How can people think walking to the shops is a bad idea? Anyway, keep up the good work and don't let the so and so's grind you down!
We seem to have collectively and smilingly signed on to this suppression of free speech. No mob originated this, but our own governments and social media.
Not here to debate - just try to bridge sad gaps and try to mediate this current disaster. Our bicycles have the same mileage and it is time for intelligent discourse, not hostility. Just as it is time for peace not war. End of debate.
What a brutal fallout from the words of someone who claims to enshrine free speech. I also read the original and find the concept brilliant. Stay safe LA.
I think you-know-who is not against the 15 min cities, as he expresses. You-know-who is against the idea of where you are allowed to drive. By the way, many cities in Europe are restricting car access to the down town cores, the city of Stockholm charges a toll if your car enters certain area and I think they have belts around the city with different tolls. But I think 15 minute cities do not mandate driving perimeters, do they?. 15 min cities promote all infrastructure to be within 15 min reach so you don't have to drive, and then are motivated to walk. No body is compelled no not to drive!
Anyways, the problem I see here is that Mr. you-know-who always criticizes compelled speech (bill C-16), and yet he compelled a brilliant author to un-post. His convoy-buddies-bullies are doing the muscle work.
The statement that JBP compelled the author is now gone, so I forget this exact context, but a citizen cant compel anyone to do anything, expect maybe via the civil courts. The author may have 'felt compelled' to act in someone, but that is an entirely different thing. The word compel comes up a lot with JBP, as it all started for him with his resistance to 'compelled speech' which is a legal concept, whereby the state compels one under force (of law, normally) to positively say something (which is different from prohibited speech).
I think compel means "force or oblige someone to do something". The author was forced to unpublish his post. Nobody directly told him to do it, but we all know how this threats go, one could say it is an indirect compel. You-know-who caused by his comments for the author to potentially be in the cross hairs of the people threatening the journalists in the UK, thus compelling him to unpublish. Have a great weekend!

I thought it was good too. Clearly free speech is only for some people, according to the mob.
We seem to have collectively and smilingly signed on to this suppression of free speech. No mob originated this, but our own governments and social media.
Uhm, you have come to the wrong place to debate your thoughts. I don't debate on the internet. Feel free to chat with yourself.

Your unwillingness to actually write his name makes him sound like Voldemort.
The issue really are the authoritarians trying to force their vision of society onto others.
Dear god Lloyd. That is ugly and horrifying. I’m so sorry.
Nice one from Oliver Wainwright https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/feb/16/15-minute-city-planning-theory-conspiracists
I’m sorry they made you feel like that đŸ˜” I definitely think you made the right choice to do whatever you need to to keep your family safe
I found it. I’m a little confused it’s still up on my app.
This is a nightmare

I don't understand why you unpublished the post, are you serious when you said you have being threatened? Did Jordan Peterson Threatened you?
I liked your post and wanted to share it to others but couldn't find it, it is a shame
I will like to clarify that I am a big admirer of JP but I think that sometimes he goes to the extremes, like in this case with te 15 minute city.
Excellent post.

JBP compelled no one.
good to hear all points of view.... care to elaborate?

I had thought that acolytes like Canadian psychologists had to have thick skins to survive. Apparently it is the thirteenth myth.
(From the UK.)
Really? That’s disgraceful. Through what media are the acolytes sounding off?
I was too slow!
I will forward the email
I was too. I saw the title and thought it looked interesting. The world is a mess when a man has to remove an essay for his own safety. Madness
